Bread and Buns

Image
Oh my goodness. I have found the most amazing bread recipe - ahhhhh! It is glorious! I got it from here  but only did 1 loaf (to test it out) and no rainbow colors (too much work!) Amazing Sandwich Bread for 1 loaf 1 cup of warm water 1/3 cup sugar 3/4 tsp salt 1/8 cup canola or vegetable oil 3 cups flour 2 1/4 tsp yeast I put all those ingredients in my wonderful bread maker [in that order, making a hole for the yeast on top] pressed the dough button and let the machine work it's magic. I turned the dough out onto a floured surface and shaped it into a loaf looking thing. I placed it in a greased bread pan and set it on top of the oven with a towel over it while I preheated the over to 350. It didn't raise much more. I put it in the oven for 15 minutes [ I probably will do about 20 next time ] and it rose so much more in the oven! I should have taken before and after pictures. I let it cool completely on a wire rack (it was so hard to wait

I went to work when I wasn't supposed to..

...but really, it's not my fault. I didn't know that . So I'm scheduled to work certain days but the night before I call in to see if there's more than 15 rooms out. When there's more than 15 I come in, when there's less I don't. It makes sense because they only need a breakfast hostess when it's busy so obviously they only want to pay me when it's busy. I come in on Monday and see that there's only 14 rooms, she let me stay though because someone else wasn't there and it just worked out. They were supposed to call me and tell me not to come in when they went down to 14 but my phone number was MIA. Haha now they have my phone number and it was all good :) I got a tip on Monday too. And as of Monday, Dan and I have been married for 7 months! It always slips my mind but I'm glad he remembers :) Between Sunday and Monday I've had multiple  people  profusely thank me for breakfast and the environment. One man made an effort to

Short n Sweet

We're sitting on the couch Friday afternoon when Dan looks at me and says 'We should go to Red Robin tonight' I'm always down for Red Robin. So we invited Jordynn & Mike and Hailey & Dave to all come with. We were told it would be a 30 minute wait but were surprised when they called us after like 4 minutes. The service was off their game though, our waitress was kind of nonexistent but the food was still great. Dan and I both got the Whiskey River BBQ Burger because it's the best, we all ate way to many fries and I drank Dr. Pepper. It was heavenly. Definitely a good idea. But then when we got home I got sick (not from the food, from my absence of a gallbladder. It makes it so I can't handle large amounts of fat). But I don't care, it was so worth it. Then we did some more homework and ended the night with a movie. Nacho Libre, my pick, yes I think it's funny. The rest of the weekend we did a lot of homework to get a jump start on the n

I'm a Terrible Wife

I am a terrible wife because I forgot to mention what Dan got me! The other day he came home with two of these YAY! I've been really wanting some end tables because we were currently using a big plastic storage container... haha not the prettiest thing. But the best part  is that because our apartment complex is right next to a bunch of storage units, people sometimes just put stuff out there for free to get rid of it. These, my friends, were on the house, free, no charge. Dan saw them in the parking lot on his way to track and he snagged them for me! I was so happy :) Monday night wasn't fun because I had a headache. So I went to bed but the I woke up with it . Uggghhh I swear, that's the worst feeling ever. Tuesday when Dan and I went to the gym it was so beautiful outside that for our cardio we ran outside  on the track. Now... it's been a while since I've ran outside and all you runners out there know how DIFFERENT running on a treadmill is tha

It's Monday? Well that was a fast Weekend...

Friday was such a busy day at work! We had a lot of rooms out so breakfast was crazy. But when I say crazy, I don't mean like crazy-I-can't-handle-it-crazy. Because really, I can handle crazy. I got this, I know what I'm doing. And of course the day after I had a couple tinsy tiny complaints  thoughts about work, today made up for it. The little boy of the family who's been in town for a reunion of some sort (they're all staying at the hotel it seems). Walked up to me and gave me $5.00 . "Oh... What's this for?" He shrugged while smiling his shoulders and ran off. I looked at his dad [who I think is Samoan and he talks like the firefly from princess and the frog. He is a hoot!] and gave me the whole 'I don't know what you're talkin about face' Haha it made my day. I guess some hotels actually have a tip jar for their breakfast hostess. I think my hotel needs ones cause because obviously people want to tip me!  it sound

We Might be Aggies?

Like most of you have heard... Dan the Man has been accepted to Texas A&M! I cannot express how insanely proud I am of him! Those applications were time consuming and he just works so hard. Where ever he goes, he will have his master's of accounting by the time he's 26 at most . He might be even 25. Hello over-achiever ;) But I don't mind! Dan is just the kind of person that bleeds and sweats success- it's just who he is! And I love him for it :) So this is great and all... but now we have to decide . How do you make a decision like that?! Deciding where you want to go to grad school could possibly decide where you want to live your life (depending on career offers after grad school). Okay I really know how  to decide- it's between Dan, me and God. But it's just easier said than done. Hopefully after all this is over we'll be like 'See! That wasn't so bad!' and everything will be a lot clearer!  what's your vote? Texa

Workin' Gal

Wednesday was my first day of work and it went well! It was pretty slow but it's easy and it's fun to talk to the guests. I have now learned how to make coffee! There's a first time for everything! The manager brought us scones which were amazing! And I have a cool magnetic name tag. It looks pretty and I like wearing it. My second day of work went also went well. I think I'm going to have to rearrange my classes. I definitely won't be able to make it to a 10:15 class. I usually get done by 11:00-11:15. the class I need is only offered 9-10 & 10:15-11:15 so frustrating! I'm trying to take ALL the classes that aren't online yet so I can finish my degree sooner. Since we're moving for grad school then for his career I need to take all the classes that aren't online now. And another class I need I'm 9 out of 10 on the wait list and there's only one section of the class! When I was looking through the health science classes I was surpr

So I Got a Job...

Yup that's right! I am officially employed ! A million applications and a handful of job interviews later and I finally snagged one. For living is Rexburg that pretty darn good! You are looking at the new Breakfast Hostess for the Quality Inn Hotel. This is going to be awesome because... +     My shift is from 6-10 am. Hello waking up and gettin stuff done! +     I can still take classes (next semester too) and have time for everything else (maybe even a second job, we'll see). +     The job will be easy, that manager even told me that +     I take care of all things breakfast (who doesn't love breakfast?)  +     Afterwards, I clean up (I'm a great cleaner). +     Hotels are everywhere and working at one may give me a small toe in the door for when I'm trying to find a job where ever we go to grad school. +     The Quality Inn is a half mile north of my house. Hello to walking distance, which will be nice because Dan is in class when I get off work.
