Home for the Holidays

So much has happened I can't even begin to remember and write everything down! Here is a quick update. We did some last minute Christmas shopping on Christmas Eve and later that night we ate way too much delicious food. Every year our tradition is to have a candlelight dinner with finger-ish foods. We hung out as a family, watched the Nativity, Silent Night and then stuffed all the stockings. I love our house during Christmas time, it looks so festive! First Christmas together! Notice the penguin pants :) Christmas Day was wonderful. We were all spoiled and we all enjoyed ourselves, eating a lot of great food still :) I received a wonderful kitchen knife that cuts like a boss!  Happy faces Christmas morning Our hallway blockage I bought Dan some Ohio State gear which he proudly wore :) It says Nuts About Urban. Urban Meyer is the coach of Ohio State and Dan loves him. The Day after Christmas was spent shopping, relaxing, play

Christmas Through the Years

While my Dad was employed at Micron, a family tradition that I always looked forward to was the Micron Christmas Party. They had an arena full of huge blow up toys, the cookie frosting station where they give you waaayyy too much frosting and sprinkles, face painting, games for kids and adult, and free food (my favorite being the mozzarella sticks). I always loved going and it became something we did every year. They always had a place to meet and take a picture with Santa and each year we got a picture. We started noticing that they used that same Santa each year and now we have these love photos where Ryan and I grow up but Santa stays the same :) 1996 - Ryan was afraid of Santa 1997 1998 1999 2000 2001 2002 2003 2004 2005 2006 2007 - This year they had multiple Santas behind closed doors to make the lines shorter. We discreetly showed the employee the picture of the Santa we wanted and we were informed he was out for bac

Goodbye Bakersfield

I didn't have time to proof read this, sorry! Thursday I tackled the kitchen. I'm like so anal about it that if anyone gets it dirty now, I'm going to fa-reak. I don't mind cleaning though, especially when it's my  kitchen and my  mess.. well our  mess. One of my biggest pets peeves when living with roommates was that I'd have to clean up other people's messes and then when I would clean they would just get it dirty and our course not clean up. Annoying. Just thinking about alllll the times this happened seriously bugs me. Deep breath. Now I have the best roommate ever :) and he's pretty darn clean for a dude. I also tell Dan what I clean each day so he won't accidently mess it up. Last night we had our last meal on In-N-Out because they're aren't any in Idaho. I have gained respect and like In-N-Out, the first time I had it, it was just way too hyped up that I was let down. Now that I've formed my own opinion I enjoy it and like thei

Moving Week!

Monday. Man, have I lived in Bakersfield for almost 4 months now? It feels so much longer but it went so quickly...? I'm not sure how that works. It's been fun and the more I think about it the more I'll miss it, but I'm also excited for new things in the future. Well welcome to chaos week. But honestly it's more like organized chaos. Luckily the terrible headache I got last night is barely a dull roar this morning. I know what I'm doing each day. Today I packed up all the decor and packed the living room picked out clothes to wear the next two weeks and packed the rest (which I basically fit almost all of it in a duffle bag. Mind you it's the biggest duffle bag I've even seen from eagle dance team haha) It takes a lot of thinking for me to pack, I can't just throw things in a box, I've got to pack the right things in the right box to make the most efficient fit. I need to organize everything to pack concisely  I'd like to think I've be

Frass and Poop

Thursday.  Last night it poured . It rained so much! Just constant rain and it was cooling down the apartment and making us cold so Dan and I made hot chocolate :) And put waaaayyy too many marshmallows in. Well the most exciting thing that happened today is that we have about a million new roommates. About a week ago I got to the kitchen one Saturday morning and see this. I thought it was poop, like mice poop and made Dan check it out. We can't figure out what it is but it looks and feels like birdseed from outside. We inspect the window and see that the sealant around it is cracking so we note it and decide that it's fine for now. I clean it up and it stays that way. A couple days later I wake up to a window seal full of it again, I clean it up and say if it happens again then I'll be worried. We truly thought it was just debris from outside making it's way through the cracks in the windows. It happens again and by this time it's annoying. It's all over
