December

I've been so excited for December since October. This would be the first Christmas that Brooks would be participating in and enjoying gifts! We tried to do a lot of Christmas-y things all month long! First we went to our HOA tree lighting. This was his first and only picture with Santa and as you can see, he was not a fan! It was a fun night with music, lights, hot cocoa and cookies. After the Santa incident, Brooks seems to really enjoy it! Having Brooks makes my Christmas so much better!  That weekend was also the city of Haslet's Christmas festival. They had preformances, food, boutiques, a jump house, games and a sledding hill! That's what you do in Texas, pay someone to make a sledding hill. Brooks was super confused by the 'snow' and tried to eat it.  Now that Brooks can opens doors, he's been extra sneaky lately. Add that to his love for peanut butter and this is what you get. He left his cup as a fair trade and brought the PB to me whi

I tried Hello Fresh

The only review posts I've seen about Hello Fresh have been sponsored ads. No one I knew personally (that had shared with me) had tried Hello Fresh. I found a coupon code and was feeling in a dinner slump so I tried it out. Hello Fresh is a meal delivery subscription. You choose your plan, what meals you want and then a refrigerated box shows up at your door with all the ingredients, recipes and nutritional info. I chose the Classic Plan of 3 meals a week for two people. I used my coupon code for $40 off, received my 3 recipes then cancelled the subscription. I should note it's a weekly subscription but you can skip weeks. Here is my experience. Meal 1: Pork and Thai Basil Stir Fry Ground pork, baby bok choy, shallot, thai basil, basmati rice, lime, fish sauce, soy sauce and sriracha Overall I'd say this was my favorite meal because I enjoyed all the elements of it. All the ingredients were great except for the bok choy. You can tell in the picture it is v

November

November is a great month in Texas because that's when fall (usually) begins. I say usually this time because this was the oddest Texas fall. We had record highs (in the 90's) in the middle of the month! Then it would swing back to fall temperatures. The up and down was annoying, I was dressing for cold weather in the morning, then hot weather for the afternoon. However I do enjoy this warm fall so Brooks and I can be outside. We bought some wood and fired up (pun intended) our outdoor pit. Brooks was so good! He sat in his chair and ate cookies with us for all of 15 minutes before he kept trying to touch the fire. Pretty good for a 1 year old! It's so nice to sit out back because we have open space behind us instead of houses. It can almost feel like you're camping. Photo evidence of cupcake coma. We invited our old neighbors (so sad they moved!) Shane and Jaclyn over for dinner and it was so good to see them! We miss them but they just closed on
