Late Nights

Image
Monday  morning came with a surprise. A fantastic  one! I got an email saying that we got the apartment we applied for!! We're not homeless!! I was freaking out, I almost ran outside (in my snuggie) to catch Dan before he left from work but I decided to call him instead. Ahhh we are so happy! We've been desperately looking for housing for what seems like for ever. Last Sunday Dan suggested that we fast together and it was a great experience. I felt really peaceful and was reminded how God is in control. I feel like we're being blessed more than I handle. How merciful is our Heavenly Father :) This biggest things are checked off our list, the next thing is finding a job. Dan is working late and this time it's realllly late. Like it's 11:30 right now and I haven't heard from him since 6:30. I don't even know what to do with myself when he works late. I already do all my fun activities by myself during the day. Tonight I decided to eat ice cream (from a wine

Thanksgiving in California

The rest of   Wednesday  we made it Manteca in pretty good time and stayed with Dan's cousin Mary. She has a beautiful house and was so welcoming and kind to let us stay there. Plus the bed there was much more comfortable than the one we have in Bakersfield! Two of Dan's other cousin's kids were there, Lindsay and Natalie were staying the night. We all watched the Lorax, holy cow what a cute movie! I loved it! This is a picture trying to show the backed up traffic going south bound. Thursday  we drove to Placerville where everyone was gathering for Thanksgiving. We got to take Lindsay and Natalie in our car- they are so awesome! Such good kids and they're so adorable. I'm pretty sure it made Dan want a daughter, they were great. We had such a good time meeting everyone! A lot of the family Dan hasn't seen since he was about 4 so who would remember that anyways?  We were basically meeting (almost) everyone for the first time and they were nothing but kin

Monday  has been busy! Dan had to be to work early so I got him there before 7am, went to the atm, grocery shopping, unloading groceries, prepping produce, boiling eggs, freezing meat, laundry all morning then I remembered I need to eat ha. Lunch, check! Applying, calling and emailing left and right to get housing in Rexburg. Haha I feel like I'm trying to find a job, it's practically the same thing. Please, please, please pick us! For dinner I made a lovely new recipe. Broccoli Cheese Rise Casserole and Mmmm mmm is was delicious. I swear I just take the most unappetizing photos but I swear this was really quite tasty! Broccoli and rice in a cheese cream sauce with more cheese on top. It was bubbly with a nice cheese crust on top, mmm! So delicious. It was very easy to make as well. This will be on the regular rotation of meals! While I was cooking I also discovered that the microwave and the oven timer are exactly a note off from each other. When they happened

So Delightful

Friday night. I'm sitting here. By myself. Watching a Twilight marathon on TV. Cons of this situation- Dan has to work late, I'm alone, a creepy man just came to my door (story to come), I miss my husband (I only saw him for 10 minutes this morning) and it's Friday night and Dan's not here. Pros of this situation- Dan is making overtime $$$ and I can watch Twilight movies without Dan laughing. 7:30 pm I hear someone coming up our steps- you can hear anyone coming up those steps and there's knock. I really want to pretend like I'm not home because my husband's not here but then the curiosity of who's there is killing me. So I open it. It's a man who's trying to sell this cleaning product and I just get the feeling he's barely making ends meet. I so badly wanted to buy his eco friendly product that I even tested out on my own shower and dang it worked! (No I did not let him in my house. I was very cautious and used all my stranger danger skil

Monday night we had the missionaries over for dinner again. Sadly Elder Smallwood was transferred to Tehachapi but we had a wonderful time with Elder Leavitt and Elder Searcy, they're good guys! For dinner I made spaghetti and meatballs- homemade meat balls! Then we also had salad and homemade garlic bread. For dessert was ice cream and homemade reese's- WHAT! I know right. Calm down I'll post the recipe and guess what guys, I even took pictures! Gold star for me! Easy Meatlballs Not too bad of a picture eh? I tried to make it more appetizing looking haha I've never made meatballs before so this is your run of the mill basic fool proof meat ball recipe. Because we were having spaghetti I added things like basil, oregano, garlic powder etc. I also didn't add the water because I was using less than a pound of beef. They turned out great!  Chocolate Peanut Butter Squares Prepare yourselves. With great knowledge comes great responsibility. With the knowl

My mother. She will take ANY and ALL chances she gets to spoil her children and run with it haha I feel so lucky and blessed to have a mom like her! She sent me thanksgiving package on Thursday. It was filled with Thanksgiving decorations and lovely treats! All the goodies in one picture. they include: 2 pomegranates, a plaque, a frame, give thanks pumpkins, pumpkin chocolate chip cookies with a burnt butter frosting and a Happy thanksgiving sign :)  Happy Thanksgiving sign!  Give thanks plaque  Thankful hearts frame Give thanks pumpkins that she MADE . That crafty woman. And you can see the cookies in the container I feel so spoiled but so happy. I love my mama :) Sad (kinda) news from Dan's side of the family. Their family cat that they had for about 19 years was put down on Thursday. But we can all agree, it was time . Boots was so old that poor thing. [ side note story about BOOTS ] I visited Colorado for the first time to meet Dan's famil
