Carson: 16 months

I know I'll just do another update when he's 18 month but I feel like SO MUCH has changed I need to document it before I forget it!

Growth
  • Clothes: 18 m
  • Diapers: size 4
  • 23 lbs
  • Has 12 teeth. All 4 molars came in and the canines are trying to cut
  • Says Dada, mama, nana (banana), ni-night, bubble, Jesus, ball and makes animal sounds
  • Loves spinning and climbs on everything

General
Carson is still the sweetest kid but he is also very mischievous! He is very determined to get any food in sight and will climb on anything. Brooks would always give up after of couple times of deterring something. Carson is so determined and will keep trying regardless. Having morning sickness has been hard when all Carson wants to do is push chairs so he can reach all the things on the kitchen counter.

Sleep
Carson is still a good sleeper. He sleep through the night almost every night. Lately the only issue has been his molars cutting. This kid teeths HARD. His gum basically swell until they just explode and bleed, then when the swelling goes down the tooth is there, it's bizarre and looks so painful. So there have been some midnight tylenol runs but other than that he sleeps through the night. He still has a binky though so sometime this summer we'll have to take that away. Pray for us!

Right around 15 months he started having a hard time falling asleep for both naps at 10am and 2pm. Over the last month we've been doing 2 naps one day, 1 nap the next and slowly transitioning to 1 nap. Brooks didn't drop his 2nd nap until almost 18 months so I was expecting this later but Carson was so ready and it's been working well for us. Now he naps from about 12-2, goes to bed at 7:30pm and wakes up at 7am.

Solids & Nursing
Weaning him happened pretty naturally. He really loves solid foods so when we were just down to morning and night it was pretty easy to distract him in the morning with breakfast. Before bed was a little bit harder. He was fussy for about a week, not knowing what he wanted but of course I knew what he wanted. I tried giving him milk and he wasn't a fan so I didn't push it. He was totally weaned but the end of February and we were done!

He's been chowing down on food ever since. Always hungry, always wants more of anything you have and will try anything once. It's hard to say his favorites because he like everything but he really likes- bananas, tomatoes and his new found love is dipping things. He's especially fond of ranch.
