June

The First day of June we hit the ground running! It was technically the first day of our stay-cation, Dan took the first week of June off to recoup and have some family time after busy season. Saturday morning I had baptisms so I woke up got ready and left to go set up and had to go to Costco after. Side note- we found the way to get me to spend less money at Costco is to send me on a Saturday (which I NEVER do) but it's so busy of people who apparently forgot how to drive their GIANT carts that I'm like get. me. out. of. here. I was in and out fast (and under $100! Is that a record? Do I get a trophy?)

While I was gone the boys partied HARD. They went and got donuts (it happened to be National Donut Day so they basically HAD to), they biked to the park, watched a show then did yard work and ate popsicles and even headed to the pool for a bit! All before lunch! Dan had to go help set up for an event at the church while I fed Brooks and got him down for a nap. Dan then swung by the Peach Truck and got a case full of authentic, straight from the orchard Georgia peaches. It's their first time coming to Texas so we thought we'd it out and freeze a ton.

To officially start off our Stay-cation we went to another Frisco Rough Riders game. We had such a blast last time and Brooks just LOVED it, we knew we'd be back soon!

We didn't plan on a huge storm crashing our party. We all hung out under the eaves for 30 minutes of torrential downpour until they called they game. Brooks was so sad he started crying! Everyone around him empathized because they wanted to watch baseball too! We made it up to him by stopping to get ice cream on the way home instead.

Monday

On the first official day of our staycation, we scheduled all the appointments! Dan and I both had dentist appointments and I also went in for an eye appointment. It's just so nice to get them done and switch off child care. The boys went for donuts (again) while I went to my eye appointment. We planned to go to a movie after and since I was already close to the theater I was going to meet them there. I had some time to kill so I went to Sam Moon (a giant jewelry store) and found the perfect dainty gold necklace I've been looking for.

We took Brooks to Aladdin and this was his first movie at the theater. Even without Brooks Dan and I don't go to the theater, it's not something we enjoy doing. So since this was such a rare occasion we went all out and got a huge popcorn and drinks. We went through 2 buckets of popcorn - B was just downing it which was great because it was keeping him interesting and sitting still.

Brooks actually did amazing during the movie. Thankfully the theater wasn't packed because Brooks loved the buttons to make the foot rest go up and down a little too much. He was pretty wiggly the last 30 minutes and was popcorned out but thankfully I had some other interesting snacks in my bag to make it. The movie was so great, I LOVED it! the music kept B really interested and his favorite part was the monkey- Abu.

We came home and put B down for a nap while Dan worked on the peaches. We bought a case of Georgia peaches from the Peach Truck, laid them out to ripen then cut them all put to eat and freeze. I grew up with a peach tree in my backyard and nothing ever beat those homegrown peaches. These Georgia peaches are some of the best I've had, so so delicious!

On Monday nights Main Event has a family special so we went bowling! We had such a fun time and the music was on point. A Trolls song came on and Brooks was getting down and dancing like no one was watching! It was hilarious! He's such a character.

On Tuesday we made some lunches and drove out to Twin Points Park on Eagle Mountain Lake. I'd never been there before but was impressed! The (man-made) was clean, well kept, even combed and made soft. They had clean bathrooms, life jackets, volleyball nets and a store. We parked out stuff at a picnic table and played in the sand all morning. The water was chilly but once you got in it wasn't too bad. B loved the water and swam all around in his floaty. We ate lunch, played some more then headed home for naps.

We took it easy in the afternoon then went to our friends soft opening on his new restaurant, The Buffalo Spot in Arlington. The food was so good and we truly enjoyed it! The buffalo fries are our favorite! While there we saw a lot of our church friends and many other people headed to the Rangers Game right after. Dan found some dirt cheap tickets so we spontaneously decided to go! We were right there anyways. We went to a couple Walmart and found me a more appropriate shirt and headed to the game.

Brooks loved it, we were up high, he could see planes and they had fireworks for any home runs. One of the at bat songs was even Baby Shark so he was totally into that!

On Wednesday we drove out to Dallas to go the Perot Museum. We'd had never been before but have heard so much hype about it. They had a Childrens Museum which Brooks loved. We did enjoy all the other exhibits and there's something for all ages but honestly for what we paid... we were kind of underwhelmed. It was smaller than I expected, pretty pricey and we were done in under two hours. I've been to museums where I've paid less, they're bigger and we didn't even see all the exhibits so I kind of felt this was over hyped?

Since we were in Dallas we thought we'd stop by the Temple grounds to show Brooks. He loves temples! The pictures on our walls and the Primary song I Love to see the Temple, is his favorite. It was raining so we pulled out our umbrella and walked around. It was so pretty and Brooks was so excited to see Moroni on the top! He actually started crying because he wanted to go in, oh, my heart!

We had to make an emergency pit stop at Home Depot because someone who we told to potty at the museum, didn't go, and suddenly HAD to go. He almost didn't make it but thankfully I had a change of clothes for him with me. Mom win!

For lunch we went to the new Lupe Tortillas in Addison. It's not officially open yet but Dan got us an invite for that day! We've had Lupes in Houston and we LOVE IT! We were so excited when we realized they're expanding up here. They're even opening one in Alliance too! We can't wait for that!

Thursday we drove out to Dallas again but went to the Dallas World Aquarium. We've been once before when Brooks was a 4 month old baby so it's been a bit but wow, we loved it! It it such an amazing place! We truly felt like we got our money worth here. It was cheaper than the Perot Museum and bigger. It was the clear winner in our minds.

It wasn't quite time for lunch by the time we were done with the aquarium so we found a fun park and played for a bit then went and ate pizza at Campisi's for lunch. We came home, took naps then headed to the pool and swam! That night some ladies from church were getting together at Chuy's so I went and joined them. Such a fun night and great food!

On Friday we may have gotten donuts.... again...ha! Our favorite donut shop, Shipleys was having a free glazed donut day so we HAD to go! We got donuts then went to Urban Air Adventure. It's a new place that opened up and it's like a trampoline park on steroids. They had indoor skydiving, a sky coaster, climbing walls, ninja warrior courses, a ropes course, trampolines and giant playground and more! Dan and Brooks just got the trampolines pass and we did all the things that Brooks was tall enough for. His favorites were the tramps and the foam pit. He climbed up to go down the slides but wouldn't go down. We had to get a big kid to gently push his down ha! Overall it's a really cool place for kids! Personally I wouldn't take Brooks again until he was older because his favorite part is the trampolines and it was the smallest area here. There's a trampoline park in Keller with more tramps and cheaper but Urban Air will be so much fun when he's older!

We went to Chick Fil A for lunch and Brooks had a big moment! He went number 2 for the first time somewhere other than home! What a huge accomplishment!! I was surprised and so proud of him. That's a big step and something that's not looming over my head now ha! We came home, took naps, played outside and got our backyard pool out and played some more. We watched a movie that night, the new Grinch (thanks Netflix) and ended out Friday.

And that was our stay-cation and it was wonderful. Sad it came to an end but we did so many fun things, we had a blast all week and got some relaxing in too. We had to go back to reality the next week and started off with a dentist appointment for Brooks. He was so excited when they had a Lightning McQueen desk/chair. Probably his favorite part. He was great for the dentist, no cavities, mostly good spacing and he once again picked out another ball for a prize. I think we have....5 now?

I made a healthy version of a blueberry muffin and Brooks asked for some and I said he could have a bite. He worked to shove AS MUCH AS HE COULD into his mouth. He practically ate half my muffin!

I had a dermatologist appointment for a pesky spot on my face and Brooks was so good to come with me that we went and got donuts afterwards. I know, we have an obsession with Shipleys.

One Sunday we had some big storms roll in while we were at church and it picked up again just as church was ending. It was raining so much and the wind was so strong you couldn't see the cars in the parking lot less than 20 feet away. So we all hung around the church building waiting for it to weaken or pass. The wind was blowing so hard that it started blowing water under the west doors. The young men were packing the doors with water and got a shop vac to remove as much of the water as they could. Then on the east side of the building the wind ripped up a giant tree!
We were only under a severe thunderstorm watch, no tornado warnings or even weather sirens but the wind was strong enough to do this! When the rain let up a bit we ran for the car and did our best avoiding high water on our way home. I didn't take this picture below but this is the new part of our neighborhood. Yikes it gets so flooded back there!

It is heating up in Texas so we have pulled out our backyard pool many times and added bubbles in the fun! It's fun now that Brooks can actually blow the bubbles on his own now.

My friend sent my this picture form church of Brooks and his buddy Conner being silly under the pews. Dan said he didn't even realize he was under there haha!
