March
Brooks and I had a lot of fun in March. I wish I could say the same for Dan but I'm not sure 'fun' is the word he would use to describe busy season?
The weather has been a weird roller coaster in Texas but on the days it started to warm up we took advantage of it. Brooks loves being outside (and can actually unlock AND open the back door!) so I try to let him go outback as often and I can.
Our day to day schedule is pretty much the same. We both wake up somewhere around 7-7:30. We snuggle, read some books, open the curtains change his diaper. Then we go eat breakfast, I get him dressed, brush his teeth and do his hair. By then it's around 8:30 and I work out. Brooks entertains himself or tries to join in. These are his burpees:
After that I shower and get ready for the day. I put Brooks in his old baby exersaucer and let him watch an episode of Baby Einsteins. Seriously it's the only way I get to shower! I wouldn't trust him for a minute to roam the bathroom unsupervised ;) Then we do stuff around the house, clean, play and get a good snack in before his noon nap. I feed him lunch after he wakes up and usually try to plan some type of outing in the afternoon. I prep and make dinner then bed time is 7:30pm
Brooks is quite the adventurer and loves climbing. He fell while climbing on his rocking chair and mid-fall hit his nose and forehead on the windowsill. OW!!
Dairy Queen had a free cone and even though Brooks hasn't ever liked ice cream before I thought we would still go. Well I was so lucky that one of my friends Haley was also there with kiddos and sister. We all sat together and caught up. Brooks shocked me as he just kept shoving the cone in his face and swallowing. He was covered in it but it was too funny to care! He ate that entire cone! And I thought he didn't like ice cream?
We went to back to back Easter Egg hunts because why not? Brooks and I went to our HOA egg hunt. I was surprised at how hot it was! I tried to explain (and practice) with B how egg hunts work but after watching the kids for a couple seconds he got the hang of it real quick! He just wanted to open every egg right then and there!
He was afraid of the cotton candy but totally cool with the Easter Bunny
Then we stood in a line FOREVER for a balloon animal that Brooks adored. Then Dan got off work and we headed to the City of Haslet's Egg Hunt. We had a great time and of course B loved the candy.
I demanded we take a picture the Sunday before Easter because we weren't going to be dressed up the next week. I just loved how this first picture turned out. Brooks adores his Dada and you can absolutely see it in this picture.
This was Brooks' first week in nursery and he loved it! The second week not so much! We'll see how week 3 goes...
I needed to buy Brooks more toothpaste and while in the isle Brooks starts saying something I don't understand and pointing. HE REALLY WANTS something. He's trying to say 'tiger' and is pointing to the Daniel Tiger toothbrush. It's what I needed so we bought it and he's been over the moon every since. He loves Daniel Tiger!
After an especially stormy night the wind blew a trampoline onto some power lines and knocked out everyone's power for 4 hours. It got to the point where I was packing all our perishable fridge items in the freezer and packing the rest with ice to keep them cool enough. Brooks was totally loving having to use flashlights. I'm so glad we have these headlamps!
An outlet mall close to us had an Engine Extravaganza event. After going there the week before on the wrong day, we made it on the right day and it did not disappoint. Brooks loved meeting the cookie. The humane society was also there and I think he loved seeing the dogs more.
So the kids could sit, climb and explore all these different types of vehicles. They had cars, trucks, firetrucks, semis, garbage trucks, diggers, police cars, ambulances, Zamboni, golf carts and out of all of them, Brooks' favorite was the john deer mower haha! He was so cute on it even the owner took a picture to show his wife.
Brooks LOVED the Engine Extravaganza.. almost too much! It was hard for him to leave each engine and go to the next one. He didn't understand waiting in line and taking turns so every time we had to get off to go see the next one brought lots of tears.
I died some Easter Eggs because there was NO WAY I was letting Brooks near the dyes. Some of my friends have really good toddlers that would sit, watch and kind of help dye eggs. Not Brooks! He would eat, drink and dump it out in 2 seconds. But can you tell which egg I mixed all the dyes on?
Easter morning was kind of funny because Brooks was so unhappy that he couldn't eat ALL his Easter candy right then. Oops! But other than that we had a great Easter and spent time with family!
