I tried Native Deodorant

If you've clicked on this post you have either been bombarded with Native Deodorant Ads like I have and are curious about natural deodorant or you just want to read an article about me and deodorant? I hope this will help anyone else who's on the fence or looking or an alternative.

When Buzzfeed published an article claiming this deodorant changed their lives it was ALL I saw on my feed and in ads for a while. I was very curious, went to their website, looked around was tempted to buy but realized I just bought deodorant and decided I should use that up first.

My history with deodorants have been all over the place. I've used every brand, every type but was never over the moon with the results. I'm probably slightly above average on the sweat scale. I'm not an overly sweaty person but I was always very active, I needed something that worked! I did gymnastics and dance through high school & college and have used everything from Teen Spirit, Dove, Lady Speed Stick, Secret, Arrid, Clinical Strength, Degree. I found that men's deodorant worked better and found a brand with a neutral scent. I used that through college until I found out my husband wasn't crazy about the scent. I felt like I tried everything at the store so I went the Native Route.

According to their website Native Deodorant is made in the USA and is aluminium, talc and paraben free. I've honestly never cared about any of those but have wondered if I should...? It claims to eliminate odor and absorb moisture. It has ingredients like Jojoba Oil, Coconut Oil, Shea Butter and Baking Soda. There are scents for Men & Women, seasonal scents and a sensitive formula that doesn't have baking soda. This doesn't run cheap at $12 a stick. I bought their sampler pack with 3 sticks for $30. That comes with Coconut Vanilla, Lavender Rose and Unscented. They offer free shipping and returns.

I got my package in 4 days. They suggest you ship it to a business address so it's not melting in your mailbox all day (in summer). It comes in a bubble wrap package that seemed to be helping block the heat. It has instructions on how to transition to Native deodorant and says it usually takes up to 14 days. Reading reviews some say it didn't take any time, some said it took the whole time, depends on your body I guess? Reading this transition thing makes me wonder if I'm going to stink for a couple days before my body gets used to it?

First touch and smell of them are awesome! I knew I'd like the Coconut & Vanilla. I was worried about the lavender but it smells very authentic and fresh without being floral. Last the unscented was truly unscented. The feel is very much like a normal deodorant. Soft and almost melt-y to the touch but crumbles if you push too hard. The difference is that it's gritty, from the baking soda I assume and an almost powder finish. Since I already had deodorant on that day (and it suggests you wash first) I tested it on my arm to make sure I didn't get any weird reaction. Overall I like everything so far.

I didn't notice much of a transition during the 14 days. It seemed to work right away for me and worked well. I have noticed that it's very moisturizing on my skin and makes it feel so soft while fighting odor.

I wore this in Disney World where we were running around for 12 straight hours in 95 degree heat and 100% humidity while I carried my 1 year old everywhere and it worked! It didn't completely stop me from sweating (but that's sounds impossible and unhealthy) but man I smelled fresh!

Overall Thoughts

Guys, I'm hooked! I starting using this back in July. I've been using 2 scents and haven't run out of either yet. I'm so happy that I've found something that actually works! The Cons include 1. It's $12 a stick! and 2. I can't just buy it in a store. However I think it's worth it plus they have a subscription option if your forgetful. I've spent more money on less product (HELLO MAKEUP) and I'm going to make the adjustment to make this my regular deodorant.

This is in no way sponsored (but wouldn't that be COOL) however they do have a referral program. If you want to try Native use this link to get a free travel size deodorant with your next purchase.

Then I'll also get a free travel size with my next purchase. It's a win-win.

Also they usually have a promo code floating around so search around!
